Chanduv23 , I know you are a very active member in these forums and feel very strongly about these efforts. I can probably understand your frustration, But I don't think we can embrace/attract people by alienating them.
It is pretty broad generalization to say those who don't/can't attend the rally or those who does not have a positive disposition about the rally are bunch of lazy, TV watching , cards playing , bargain hunting , un-ambitious people.

Nice Post hydboy!! Quick question though, Would you have put the same argument if you have not filed your EAD during july 2007? Guess not..Let us stop this..now.I agree with what you are saying,by the way.
I hear some people saying childish things like hijacking this thread if anybody says anything different from what they say. What do you prefer, should I open another thread with title "oppose prefiling AOS", nobody wins neither will I or you when somebody does that. Please tolerate others views then they will tolerate yours.
Without strengthening AC21 if you allow everyone to file AOS then anti eb folks like Grassley, Sanders, Sessions, Durbin will move from targeting H1b to targeting EAD. It takes 6 months to get Perm approval, with pre filing AOS everyone can get EAD in 6 months, anti eb folks and USCIS know that people will be jumping to EAD to escape H1 crackdown, what do you think they will do, they will add amendments and Bills to put restrictions on hiring EAD just like they put restrictions on hiring H1b. We cannot make EAD into another H1b like hell.
Prefiling should be done to give relief to people who missed July fiasco only after
1. Remove\dilute same similar job requirement
2. Make sure EAD is extended without any rfe. USCIS will invent thousand things to issue rfe, EAD should be in a different league to h1 and it should not turn into another h1 where you are slapped with rfe left right and center. Example Pay stub rfe, ability to pay rfe, customer Purchase order RFE etc etc etc, Green card holders don�t have any problem working in these same jobs so why should EAD people face this nonsense (otherwise it is just like h1). Before people complain this will become like a green card, lets me answer in advance, if a person from ROW can get his green card within 12 months of coming to US, why cannot people from India\china who have worked in US for the last 5 to 10 years get the above mentioned relief on EAD. EAD should be superior to h1.the only restriction should be you should work in the same field, i.e. if your labor certification is for Software engineer, programmer analyst etc , then you work in a software related job and cannot become a greeter in walmart :-)

My employer filed I-140 on July 12th and at Nebraska Service Center which must have been deleivered by now. And my employer persist that they cannot file I-485 until I get receipt notice. I even came to know on another thread even without receipt notice I-485 can be filed with an application as a cover letter.
So can I do that myself without the help of the employer or I have to wait for the receipt notice.
Is there any way we can get the info by USCIS by calling them or by taking InfoPass Appointment and asking them..

You can ask the USCIS "interfile to XXXXXX" without a copy of the pending I-140 receipt notice, but it is still not recommended. The option may be filing a new concurrent I-140/I-485. But predicament is lack of "original" labor certification. Service Centers have been denying such I-140 petition in a number of cases for lack of original labor certification application. The AILA may attempt to find an answer for this situation, but under the circumstances, you may not have any option other trying filing with the best evidence of I-140 petition filing proof including a copy of the cancelled filing check from the bank, federal or ups overnight delivery tracking record, complete copy of I-140 petition and supporting documentation, and I-485 application and documentation. It is better trying than doing nothing at this point. Or you can wait until first or second week to see whether you will receive the receipt notice of I-140 petition and file I-485 applicatiopn with this receipt notice. Inasmuch as you were eligible in July under the July VB, the extended period of I-485 application may work.

Well...I am one of us stuck in EB3. I do qualify for EB2 but my employer choose to file it under EB3. I recently invoked AC21 and moved over to a new employer on my EAD. Is there a way I can ask my new employer if they can file new I140 under EB2 and change my category to EB2?
I am also like you. As I have been searching this forum, I understand that you can ask your new employer to process a new EB-2 PERM, once it is approved, the new employer can submit for I-140 with interfiling of old PD of EB-3.

If you read my post carefully, I am suggesting this 'in addition' to what's already on IV's agenda. Why can't we work on this item in conjunction to what's already being worked on? I have started preparing a fraud list from a bunch of websites like desicrunch.com. I noticed that almost 90% of firms reported there are fraud firms and it makes me wonder about the efficiency of local authorities. Also I don't see how targeting blood sucking desi firms would feed the anti-immigrant trolls. I would think we Indians would benefit the most since it would increase our credibility in general. Thanks for considering this idea at least. I would like to know other people's thoughts based on my clarification here. This drive might clean up cases freeing up visa numbers for genuine EB cases from India. Why should I be in line with crooks ahead of me? It doesn't make sense whatsoever.
And yes, my contribution to IV so far as been $1000 and involvement in other drives. Your question to me regarding my contribution made me squirm a bit since you might have categorized me with many of IV's freeloaders. How does passing CIR help us? I didn't really have the energy to go thru the whole bill but it didn't specify what "line" those 20+million ppl who eventually get amnesty will be processed in. If they line up on EB3 or a supplementary bill in the future decides to allocate some EB3 to a "Schedule B" (just for example), then we are right back to where we started (but add more years to the waiting).

Still your end in mind is US. Ok when I have a job in US and waiting in retrogression, what is the adavantage of having canadian PR and moving there unless otherwise you get a jump in career.

I have an EB3 app from Oct 02. One more PERM filed 2 months back. My wife has an approved EB3 140 waiting to file 485.
We have canadian PR cards. We have decided to move to Canada in Oct. We may come back here once numbers are available to file for 485 or im thinking of becoming a canadian citizen. who knows t'row some bright guy in Congress may create a rule saying Canadian citizens are exempt from visa numbers :)

Mea Culpa. I'm the culprit here :).
I requested for the meeting close to weekend. It turned out some other new chapters were also in the same boat. Core put us together in the same call, which helped, as our issues are more or less the same. Timing was inconvenient for cagedcactus due to personal reasons. Yet he participated (which we should appreciate). Some veterans also nearly-missed the call as everything got finalized a few hours before it.
Regarding nearby states, we can try to accomodate Indiana (IN) and Ohio (OH), and my be Wisconsin (WI), the states that border Michigan, that is if they already don't have an active chapter.
I missed it, not aware of it, not sure why. I am glad to see this chapter grow. There was a time where we were searching for folks with torchlights. Thanks to Chintu, walking_dude, cagedcactus, bestin and all others who are now making this happen.
I have a very close friend in Michigan, and asked him to join, but he talks about all hardships, about his HR manager, about his company, about his lawyer, about everything except IV stuff. I am sure there are many more people here doing the same thing. We have to motivate folks to come forward. We cannot afford to have people who are inactive.
