Sorry that I could not reply sooner. In this case, I went ahead and did an Info Pass appointment. The officer there went ahead and gave a 1-year temporary stamp and said he was ordering card production. This was in July and I am still waiting. My lawyer said "congrats"! No idea how to handle this going forward. What happened to your case?

There are several benefits to media coverage.
You create awareness and build alliances.
You give the other party (in this case congress) an opportunity to correct the problem.
You get reporters to do additional investigate work that may help you build a case (This has already happened).
You have an opportunity to correct public misconceptions, such as that all ITIN filers are illegal aliens, and thereby reduce the chance that the public will support such action in the future.
Wikipedia also has good interpretation of rebate and ITIN. It clearly mentions
"Taxpayers who filed their returns jointly are not eligible for payment if any of the persons on the tax return filed with an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) instead of a social security number.[4] For example, if a family of five had one parent with an ITIN, no money is payable to any member of the family, including US citizens with valid social security numbers.[7] As a result, many legal resident aliens and overseas military families will not receive any payment. You are certainly entitled to your interpretation and Mr. Gotcher is entitled to his but I wouldn't go as far as calling it a ploy to increase more traffic. I am not sure if you are an attorney but he is and he certainly has more understanding of immigration law than most of us here. As with any law and immigration in particular, there is room left for interpretation and Mr. Gotcher is simply stating his point of view. You are more than welcome to disagree with him but I wouldn't call him greedy.
According to posters on Mr Gotcher's forum, there are law firms that are already preparing class-action lawsuits on behalf of I-485 applicants who claim to have been disadvantaged by the change of interpretation in the April bulletin. By waiting you are doing the same mistake that I did last year. My AC21 RFE was mailed to my previous employer's attorney. They promptly mailed it to me. But I did not get it for one month. In the mean while my priority date became current and I thought that attorney was playing games with me.
After waiting for one month I went to my post office and lodged a written complaint. In two hours the notice popped up in my mail box.
What had happened was that the mail man had simply delivered the notice in mail box 5617 instead of 5616 and no one was living in apartment 5617 and no one picked it up.
By the way, with that much delay I missed the 2007 bus.
My attorney called them and requested the copy of Denial notice as well as asked them for faxing it.
Still not received anything.
Not sure what to do except waiting.
Irony is that all notice reaches on time except denial notice. Seems like they are trying to eliminate backlog by doing some tricks

Well this is an unfortunate development nevertheless it brings closure to months and months of speculations and hope for us. For past one year IV has provided as with a forum to fight for a our just cause and brought together all of us like minded individuals. I sincerely thank IV for that and doing countless things beyond what they have signed for. This has been a hard fight full of down moments but all in all it was a worthy experience. I guess we are at a juncture where I get the feeling despite our hard efforts to distinguish ourselves based what we are and what we represent, there is a growing consensus to tie us with what we don't represent. To me giving us what we are asking for, ONLY when they will print 12 million+ Green Cards for people who have falsified identities, carried no driver's license and have fled to America to fight hunger and poverty is an insult to what we have fought hard to achieve in life (education, career etc) in past many years. I have seen numerous stories on IV forum about folks who struggled to renew driver's license at DMV's and that's just tip of the iceberg I can go on about the struggle each one of us has faced to keep legal status amidst recessions, job loss, insanity of DOL, USCIS and many other hurdles. I don't have much to say except that the next step to achieve our goals is a conflicting priority. At this point I feel that there is no need to educate people who choose to be ignorant. I will sign off now !!! I wish good luck to IV and Thank IV core for doing more than what they have signed for.

Hi ! My H1B with current employer is valid till March 2010. I got a new job offer and employer is willing to transfer my H1B. I have submitted all the documents.
The attorney of the new employer says, that I can start working with new company once USCIS receives my application. Is it safe? She says Fedex tracking no. is enough. I am EB-3 ROW PD 2007 Aug. Reading all the Eb-3 I people's angry, I started to wonder what's gonna happen to the EB-3 ROW. Seems like if lots of Eb3-I change to EB2-I , They will probably eat up all the Spillover from Eb1, EB2 ROW from now on. That makes EB-3 ROW and EB-3 I become the same boat.
Is it what gonna happened? and think about how many people can afford to spend an extra 10k to change the status from EB-3 to EB-2? That's totally not fair. We need to take action all EB-3 ers!!!!!!

Given thanksgiving is barely a week away, we can be certain of the usual platitudes directed at immigrants - this is a good time to remind the average American how far they have strayed from their roots and forgotten the true sentiment behind the tradition. Immigrants have always been hated and reviled by those that got here earlier - but the current anti-immigrant sentiment is vastly different in scale and sophistry due to the times we live in. If every IV member signs up 10 citizens to the immigrant cause, we should easily be 100,000 strong in a couple of weeks. It could be anyone from your advisor at school who mentored you to your buddies at work - even the stinkin relatives should be harassed. Though CIS and Numbersusa pretend that they are a product of the current anti-illegal sentiment, they started out much before the so-called 'wave' started. And they have adapted and honed their strategies very well to crush whatever relief Congress contemplates/passes. Consider the way CIS was initially dedicated to 'researching' immigrant issues that they would complain about the media's positive stories about immigrant contributions as merely anecdotal evidence not worthy of rebuttal. Now they are suddenly fond of anecdotal evidence themselves since experts began demolishing their claims of job-stealing and other baseless charges convincingly(esp CFR's Sebastian Mallaby) using empirical evidence-they shamelessly stoop to use someone's sob story to make their case. So, as repugnant as their motives are, they are too transparent for their own good- and they can't cover their tracks -which is good for us since we are appealing to the fair minded. Remember - every one in the US is an immigrant or an offspring of one. They have always been hated and reviled -so if someone who benefited from the immigrant tradition of this nation wants to turn around and deny it to those following him/her even though their ancestors did the same thing at a great emotional/economic cost to the then existing natives- they have a higher bar in explaining why the current bunch shouldn't continue to benefit from the great tradition-merely being bigoted but sophisticated enough to hide it isn't enough. so don't lose heart but dont sit on your ass either.

My earlier offered me ticket to my home country when they let me go. They specified in letter that they are offerring this according to the law. But I think its not neccessary to have employer to send termination letter to USCIS. Actually person can request company to stop sending this letter if employer is intend to. This way employer will not going to loose anything.

One reason for the poor performance from DC area folks is that a GC does not open many avenues for folks in DC area. You could change from a 70K job to 90K job, may be. In Silicon Valley there are many more opportunities. You are talking about a change from 80K to may be starting a million $$ company.

They filed my H1B and are about to start my green card. The H1B took forever. I wish my company allowed me to do the H1B myself. I can do a better job without a lawyer instead of paying Fragomen $5000 for rubbish.
